
Austin Franklin
Co-Founder, CTO, and creator of Plétude
Austin is a composer and music technologist living in Västerås, Sweden. He works as a post-doc researcher at Mälardalen University in association with KMH, Spotify, Ericsson, and Teenage Engineering. He received his BA in Music from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 2017. He went on to Louisiana State University where he received an MA in music composition in 2020 and a PhD in Experimental Music and Digital Media in 2023.
His research interests include real-time music information retrieval, distributed performance systems and interactions, multimodal feedback, and design patterns for artistic practice. Austin’s works have reached listeners across the U.S. and internationally; among these, his string quartet Lanterns was performed at Carnegie Hall in 2022. His work has been described as “striking” and “elegant” (New York Concert Review) and praised for its “great subtlety and sophistication” (The American Prize). He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the American Prize for Music and the Petrichor International Music Competition.

Mathilde Bergeron
Co-founder, CEO, and artistic director of Plétude
Mathilde is a former educator originally from Louisiana, USA. She is also the designer of Plétude: The Game. Mathilde received her BA in Spanish in 2016 from Louisiana State University where she minored in film and media arts and art history. She later receiver her MA in Hispanic studies in 2020 from LSU. During her undergraduate degree, Mathilde also studied at la Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2023 she moved with her husband Austin Franklin to Västerås, Sweden when he began working at Mälardalen University.
Before moving to Sweden, Mathilde worked as an instructor of Spanish at Louisiana State University. Prior to her work as an educator, Mathilde worked in a range of industries and fields. Her earliest experience was in theater and film with a focus in art direction, scenic design, and production. She has also worked as a personal and executive assistant in Louisiana for business owners, non-profit leaders, and in a Louisiana State Senate campaign. Through her work in Plétude, Mathilde has applied her diverse knowledge base of business, entertainment and media, art and design, and arts administration.
